Children and Social Security Disability Benefits

A child with a disability who is age 18 or older may qualify for social security benefits when a parent begins receiving retirement or disability benefits. In certain circumstances a disabled child can also get benefits at age 18 or older when a parent dies; however, the child's disability must have begun before age 22.
