North Carolina man accused of killing family in violent crash

It is a long drive north from North Carolina to Toledo, Ohio. The area bordering Lake Erie is where an Asheboro man was recently accused of causing a motor vehicle accident that killed three family members and injured three other people in a crash a few miles east of Toledo.

The 26-year-old construction worker has pleaded not guilty to three second-degree felony counts of aggravated vehicular homicide. He is in custody in the local county jail, according to a news report.

The Toledo Blade reported that a husband and wife, 60 years old and 56, along with their 33-year-old daughter, succumbed to injuries sustained in the violent collision. The three were in a car headed east while the North Carolina man was headed north when he failed to bring his van to a stop at an intersection.

The van slammed into the car driven by the 60-year-old.

Two passengers in the van, including a Greensboro man, were hospitalized after the deadly incident.

The 56-year-old woman killed was the director of a daycare center in a town about 20 minutes east of Toledo. The 33-year-old killed was a third grade teacher in a public school in a nearby town. She is survived by her husband and two children.

Obviously, the toll of this crash will deeply affect not only the victims and their families, but their communities as well.

We do not yet know why the van failed to stop at the intersection, but we know from experience that in many similar situations drivers are distracted, impaired by alcohol or drugs, or simply careless and reckless.

We can help North Carolina accident injury victims and families of crash victims pursue full, fair compensation for all damages.
