From Christian’s interview for the Masters of Workers’ Compensation series on ReelLawyers.com.

Christian Ayers has been fighting for the rights of injured workers with the firm since 2014. On a typical day, Christian litigates cases before the North and South Carolina Industrial Commissions, takes client meetings and phone calls, and drafts court filings to get weekly payments and medical treatment for his clients. Christian has been recognized by his peers and selected to the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. This selection is based off of an evaluation of 12 indicators including peer recognition and professional achievement in legal practice. He primarily assists injured persons with Workers’ Compensation and Short and Long Term Disability claims. In 2021, Christian was certified as a Specialist in Workers Compensation law by the North Carolina State Bar. From the State Bar Website (nclawspecialists.gov): “A lawyer who is certified as a specialist by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization has satisfied a number of rigorous standards for certification in the lawyer’s specialty field including the following:

  • continuing education requirements
  • devotion of 25% or more of the lawyer’s practice time to the specialty
  • confirmation by the lawyer’s peers that the lawyer has the qualifications to be board certified in the specialty
  • passage of a 6 hour exam in the specialty field.

Board certification, unlike the self-laudatory information in advertising and marketing, is a credential that you can rely upon because it is based upon objective criteria.

He attended Furman University in Greenville, SC where he majored in Religious Studies and English. Christian earned his Juris Doctorate degree from The University of Memphis – Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was given the distinction of graduating Magna Cum Laude. As a third year student, Christian served as an adjudicator for the Memphis Housing Authority. At the Memphis Housing Authority, he was assigned to investigate, research, hear, adjudicate, and issue written opinions ruling on administrative appeals involving participants in the Memphis Housing Authority’s Housing Choice Voucher Program who had challenged adverse decisions affecting their eligibility for or amounts of public housing assistance they were receiving.

Christian was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. When he is not in the office or taking calls at home, Christian enjoys spending time with his family. He is an avid fisherman, and is passionate about protecting the Carolina’s beautiful public lands and wild places.
