The injured worker was hurt and had several back surgeries to correct herniated discs in her spine. She had a preexisting condition in her spine that complicated medical treatment for the compensable condition. We argued that future medical expense would be much higher for her than the normal back patient in her condition. The case was settled for more than a typical back injury case as a result.
